‘Exploring Primary Science’ is a summer course for primary school teachers run by Una Leader of Lifetime Lab. The course will run virtually from 5th – 9th July via Zoom where teachers will interact online with the Una in real time.
The course will include hands on activities using items teachers can source in their own homes. A small box of less accessible equipment will be loaned to participants to be returned at the end of the course.
Topics will include:
Skills Development: Highlighting practical activities to develop the skills needed to work scientifically and designing and making skills.
Energy and Forces: Developing teachers’ knowledge and understanding in the areas of Sound, Heat, Magnetism, Electricity and Forces.
Living Things & Environmental Awareness & Care: Exploring opportunities for learning outdoors and developing knowledge and understanding of Living Things.
Materials: Modelling approaches to science investigations.
The course is approved by the Department of Education for the purposes of the awarding EPV days to primary school teachers.
