BIM Aquaculture Remote Classroom

The ARC, or Aquaculture Remote Classroom is a unique purpose designed mobile classroom, developed by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM). The ARC travels all over the country delivering an interactive education programme to primary schools along with delivery of transition year talks about careers in the marine industry.

This innovative vehicle creates an ultra-modern, flexible learning environment that delivers an imaginative and engaging insight into Aquaculture (fish farming). Aquaculture is a vital and developing industry and is a crucial form of income and employment in many coastal areas, providing a sustainable and healthy food source for future generations. In Ireland, 1.9 million people live within 5km of the coast and many of these coastal communities here and abroad depend on industries such as fishing, aquaculture, and coastal tourism.

This year at the Carnival of Science we welcome people of all ages to come on board the ARC, take a tour of our classroom and learn all about aquaculture here in Ireland.
