Cork City Council awarded prestigious Engineering Ireland employer accreditation
Cork City Council is delighted to have been awarded Engineers Ireland Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Accredited Employer Standard.
The CPD Accredited Employer Standard is designed to help organisations improve the competence of their engineering professionals, developing employees who are agile and adaptable, creating a workforce that is encouraged to create and innovate, and develop new solutions. Organisations that have achieved the Standard may find they are better placed to deal with change and disruption, while also being capable of attracting and retaining talent.
As part of our commitment to achieving CPD Accredited Employer status, we have implemented a series of monthly in-person CPD lunchtime networking and knowledge sharing sessions. We also support future talent by offering engineering placements to University College Cork and Munster Technological University in areas such as active travel, contract reviews, public consultation preparation, surveying and site supervision work, with experienced Council staff providing mentoring and career guidance.
Speaking following the award of the Standard, Valerie O'Sullivan, Chief Executive, Cork City Council, stated: “Cork City Council is delighted to be accredited with Engineers Ireland, a recognition that reflects our commitment to the highest standards of engineering excellence, professional development, and industry best practice. This accreditation strengthens our ability to deliver on the ambitious strategic plans for the growth and development of Cork as a world class city, while supporting our team’s continued growth as engineering professionals.”
Damien Owens, Director General of Engineers Ireland, added: “Achieving CPD Accredited Employer status demonstrates Cork City Council’s commitment to the development of its engineering and technical staff. It now joins over 170 organisations that have now been awarded the Engineers Ireland CPD Accredited Employer Standard.”
