On Friday October 2nd, Cork Simon Community are hosting a Sleepout in Elizabeth Fort in Cork City in response to the growing number of people experiencing homelessness in Cork.
Since April, over 800 men and women per month have been depending on emergency accommodation in Cork. For those sleeping rough, each day is a struggle to meet basic needs, and each night brings uncertainty, hardship and risk.
The number of people experiencing homelessness and seeking lifesaving emergency supports continues to increase in Cork year-on-year, and it is especially difficult for those sleeping rough during the winter months.

‘No one should have to face homelessness as the winter months approach. Yet every day we meet men and women who are struggling to find a safe place to sleep, a secure home, or the support they need to rebuild their lives.
The Sleepout is a powerful reminder that homelessness hits people across our community every single day. We are incredibly grateful to everyone taking part. Every euro raised will help Cork Simon provide housing, support, and hope to those experiencing homelessness this winter’
Cork Simon are asking the public to help raise money for Cork Simon’s emergency services by sleeping out in Elizabeth Fort or by hosting their own Sleepout in their community, school or workplace.
The money raised from the Sleepout for Cork Simon will help fund Cork Simon's range of emergency services this winter, including emergency accommodation, outreach, day services and Soup Run which play a vital role in Cork Simon’s response to homelessness in Cork.
