Local Enhancement Programme Grant
The Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) gives funding to community groups across the state. The money comes from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and is managed locally by the Local Community Development Committees (LCDCs) in each local authority area.
Each local authority gets a share of the overall funding, and the LCDC decides how it is given out locally so that it goes to the areas that need it most.
Many different organisations and Government departments already invest in disadvantaged areas. The LEP is designed to add to this work, not replace it, by supporting existing services and projects in communities.
The programme focuses on communities experiencing disadvantage, as identified in the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP). Funding can be used for things like repairs and improvements to buildings, buying equipment such as tables and chairs, tools, signage, laptops, printers, lawnmowers, canopies, and training equipment.
Overall, the programme helps community groups continue to provide important services in their areas and helps strengthen local communities.
Further details on the LEP can be found at https://www.gov.ie/en/department-of-rural-and-community-development-and-the-gaeltacht/policy-information/local-enhancement-programme/
Applications for the LEP typically open at the start of the year, in January/February.
