Cork City to Host High-Octane Motorsport Event this Weekend

The Red Bull Homerun is a taking place in Cork City on Saturday, October 10, featuring Conor Shanahan, a two-time Drift Masters champion, and the Oracle Red Bull Racing RB7 F1 car.

The event will be held in South Mall and is ticketed, with prices starting at €25 for adults and €15 for children aged 3 to 15.

Gates open at 7pm, and the event runs until approximately 9.30pm.

The event, which is being organised by Red Bull Ireland and being delivered in association with Cork City Council’s Night-Time Economy team, is expected to attract up to 10,000 people into the city centre.

Road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place across Cork City to facilitate the event.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey through the city.

Road closures:

Lapp's Quay, between Parnell Bridge and Connell Street), is now closed until noon Sunday.

The South Mall cycle lane is closed in both directions until 6am Sunday.

The southbound cycle lane on Parnell Bridge is closed until 6am Sunday.

 

From Thursday, October 8, the following closures will take effect:

• Lapp's Quay (Parnell Bridge to Clontarf Street) and Connell Street closed from 7pm Thursday until noon Sunday.

 

From Saturday October 10, the following closures will take effect:

2pm:

• South Mall closed (Parliament Street to Parnell Place).

• Anglesea Street closed (Terence MacSwiney Quay to Old Station Road).

• Douglas Street westbound closure (Summerhill South to Dunbar Street).

• Local access managed by traffic marshals on Fr Mathew Quay/Fr Mathew Street and Union Quay/Copley Street.

6pm:

• Parnell Bridge closed.

• Terence MacSwiney Quay closed (Clontarf Bridge to Parnell Bridge).

Most restrictions will remain in place until late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, with some event infrastructure remaining in place until Sunday.

Please follow all signage and directions from gardaí and traffic management personnel.
