Peter Defranceschi

Peter Defranceschi is the Director of the Brussels Office of ICLEI, a global network of more than 2500 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development.

He leads ICLEI’s Global CityFood Program on resilient urban-rural food systems (est. 2013). Since he joined ICLEI in 2005, Peter has been working on many impactful initiatives related to resilient food systems, sustainable public procurement, climate change, nature-based solutions, water and mobility. Peter is Italian and lawyer by training. Before joining ICLEI he had been working in various organisations in Europe and Latin America, focussing in particular on human rights, democratisation and indigenous peoples.
