AMPLIFY

Underway from October 2026, AMPLIFY is the latest Horizon Europe project on urban resilience to involve Cork City Council as a partner. It is focusing on using creative and participatory forms of engagement as a means of developing improved disaster preparedness - both general among citizens and operational among institutions.
Over 3 years, this will bring together an array of stakeholders - vulnerable, exposed communities; public authorities; emergency first responders; the research and science community; arts and cultural actors; and civil society interests - in enhanced dialogue, knowledge-sharing, learning, and cooperation to co-create new tools and solutions on extending risk communication beyond technical information provision or even awareness-raising towards meaningful capacity and readiness for collective action when needed.
The Cork 'Creative Hub' (with counterparts established in the Netherlands and Italy plus a pan-European structure), with our involvement led by the Climate Action Unit alongside the Arts Office, working closely with project coordinators UCC Sustainability Institute and the The Glucksman Gallery, will especially reference the societal and emotional experiences of the catastrophic floods of November 2009 while also encompassing another extreme impact of climate change, heatwaves.
