A Talk on the history of the Firemen’s Rest
The Firemen's Rest began life as a shelter for firefighters on duty on Monday May 9th in 1892. The Firemen's Rest was one of the first buildings in Cork to have a telephone and it has been located all over Cork City on the Grand Parade, across from the Cork Opera House and adjacent to the Fr. Mathew Statue on St. Patrick's Street.
Kevin Higgins, Third Fire Officer with the Cork Fire Brigade will give a talk on the history of Firemen's Rest at 1pm.
The talk will be ISL Interpreted by Brenda Quigg.
