Food Policy Development - Feast 2030 Project

The Cork Food Policy Council brings together people from the community and from the food retail, farming, fishing, restaurant and catering, education, environmental and health sectors, along with local authorities. Its aim is to help create a fairer, healthier, more secure and more sustainable food system for Cork city and the wider region. It does this by improving access to nutritious food, supporting local and diverse food production, reducing environmental impacts, and backing community‑led food initiatives.

Since 2025, the Food Policy Council has worked with food producers, businesses, health professionals, community organisations and environmental groups to develop a Sustainable and Healthy Food Policy for Cork. This policy will be published in the coming months.

FEAST

In Cork City, the FEAST project is supported by Horizon Europe and focuses on building a more sustainable, local food system using a “Living Lab” approach. This approach connects food growers with local communities to test and develop practical solutions together. Key actions under the project include the Rosehill Community Market Garden, initiatives to reduce food waste, and the co‑design of a healthy food policy for the city.
