Soak Up the Sunshine with Free Jazz in the Heart of Cork City Today
24/06/2026
Cork City Council’s Ceol sa Chathair summer series of free lunchtime city centre concerts continues today (Wednesday June 24).
What better way to soak up the sunshine than to the sounds of the Mo O’Connor Jazz trio, featuring Mo O’Connor, Pat Barrett and Dan Corbett, who will perform on the plaza near Murray’s, on St Patrick’s St, from around 1pm.
The Ceol sa Chathair series continues at lunchtime this Saturday with the White Horse Gospel Choir performing – same time, same place.
Set up in Autumn 2019 by Gospel choral director, Aoibheann Carey-Philpott, and based in the famous White Horse pub in Ballincollig, the 80+ members of this community choir have performed in venues including Cork’s City Hall, Cork Opera House, St Fin Barre’s Cathedral, the Everyman Theatre and St. Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny.
Meanwhile, City Hall will host the first ever performance in Cork by the European Doctors Orchestra at 3pm on Sunday - a special fundraiser for the Irish Guide Dogs, the grand marshals at this year’s Cork St Patrick’s Day parade.
The concert will feature The Rite of Spring, by Stravinsky, Sibelius violin concerto with Cork soloist, Mairead Hickey, and Wagner’s Entry of the Gods into Valhalla.
The doctors pay their own accommodation and travel costs, and all concert expenses are paid by a registration fee, so all proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the charity.
Tickets are available from Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.ie/e/european-doctors-orchestra-concert-in-aid-of-irish-guide-dogs-tickets-1987119192998 and at ProMusica.
