The Chemistry Toolbox - Blueprinting
Join our friendly science researchers to find out how art and chemistry come together. Dyes are important in our everyday lives from the clothes we wear, to the books we read, to paintings and posters, and much more. Did you know that dyes have changed a lot since the Egyptians used copper-based salts for the blue colour in their hieroglyphs? Scientists have made dyes much safer by removing toxic substances like lead, but we still need to protect the environment from the buildup of dyes. At the chemistry toolbox you will get to do your own “blue printing” while also discussing the importance of source material vs copies with our researchers.
