Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball Raises around €30,000 for Cork Charities
18/06/2026
The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Fergal Dennehy, has thanked everyone who supported the Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball 2026, which has raised around €30,000 for four incredible charities.
The black-tie gala event, which was held at the beautiful Vienna Woods Hotel last Friday, brought together members of the public, business community, and civic life for an evening of elegance, entertainment and generosity to support this year’s chosen charities:
- Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind
- St. Luke’s Home, Cork
- The Life Centre
- Horizons Cork.
Blessed with glorious summer weather, guests were welcomed with a drinks reception on the hotel terrace, where the Carrigtwohill Gospel Choir created a wonderful atmosphere with their uplifting performance.
A superb four-course meal followed, and was complemented by a number of delightful surprises throughout the evening, including a wonderful performance by The Singing Waiters who energised the room with their lively performance.
Following dinner, Michael McGrath, European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice and the Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, delivered the after-dinner speech, praising the Lord Mayor for his year in office and reflecting on the importance of community, generosity, and supporting charitable causes.
The Lord Mayor, Cllr Fergal Dennehy, said: “I am absolutely delighted with the success of this year’s Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball.
“It was a fantastic night that brought people together in a spirit of celebration and generosity.
“I want to sincerely thank everyone who attended, supported, and contributed to making the evening so special.
“Most importantly, the funds raised will make a meaningful difference to four truly deserving charities who do invaluable work in our communities.”
The Lord Mayor also extended his gratitude to the organisers, sponsors, performers, and staff of the Vienna Woods Hotel for helping to deliver such a memorable and impactful event.
The proceeds will be formally presented to the charities later this year.
The Lord Mayor’s Charity Ball continues to be a highlight of Cork’s social and civic calendar.
