Comhairle na nÓg
Comhairle na nÓg is the City’s Young Person’s Council, and draws representative from post-primary schools across the city, to encourage young people to have a say in issues impacting their lives.
’The Comhairle’ is funded by the Department of Children, Disability and Equality and is supported by Cork City Council Community Team.
In 2026, YMCA Ireland is the home for Cork City Comhairle na nÓg, with a dedicated support worker coordinating Steering Group meetings, recruitment and programme development.
Comhairle members work together to identify the themes they wish to focus on and advocate for over the course of their term, and engage with strategic policy makers, national campaigns, and elected representatives. Cork City Comhairle members also engage with national Comhairle structures including Dáil na nÓg, Seanad na nÓg and the National Executive.
An annual conference, held in Cork City Hall, provides an opportunity for delegates to debate the issues and strategise action plans.
