The Cork City and County Archives Service is delighted to announce that it is opening the long-lost archive of writer and historian Daniel MacCarthy Glas (1807- 1884) to the public.

Cork Heritage Open Day Celebrates its 20th Anniversary in Style
Cork Heritage Open Day, which takes place on Saturday, August 16th, celebrates the amazing architecture and history of the built heritage in Cork city and sees over 35 buildings open their doors free of charge for one day only. This is the only event of this size and scale happening in the country and includes walks, talks and exhibitions on our rich heritage throughout the city.

Works to start this month on Lehenaghmore Road Improvement Scheme
Works will start on the Lehenaghmore Road Improvement Scheme over the coming weeks. Glas Civil Engineering Ltd. have been appointed as the main contractor to carry out the works. The initial works in August will consist of investigative surveys in advance of the main works starting towards the end of the month.

City’s Arts Community Contributions Celebrated at City Hall
In 2025, Cork City Council awarded €992,550 in grants to 90 arts and cultural organisations across the professional and voluntary sectors in Cork city. A further €169,000 was distributed in artist’s bursaries and project awards to city artists.
