Cork Mini Boat sets sail
A ‘mini boat’, 1.5 metre in length with a tiny sail, that crossed the vast expanses of the Atlantic Ocean, sailing over 5000km and landing in Ireland has set sail once again,  thanks to a collaboration between Cork City Council, Creative Ireland, Port of Cork, the National Maritime College of Ireland, the Marine Institute’s Explorers Education Programme and the Educational Passages in the USA.

Cork Heritage Open Day which is organised by Cork City Council in partnership with the Heritage Council, is a wonderful celebration of the built heritage in the city. To mark the start of National Heritage Week, Cork Heritage Open Day will take place virtually on Saturday August 14.

Cork Playful Culture Trail is launched
Old Cork Waterworks Experience along museums, galleries, and attractions in Cork City have come together to create a Playful Culture Trail, featuring 30 fun and playful places where kids can explore the city’s culture, heritage and green spaces through play. Each attraction on the trail will have a unique activity pack for kids on arrival with numerous challenges to complete from scavenger hunts, to sketching tasks, crosswords and investigation work.

Minister Martin approves funding for Old Cork Waterworks Experience
The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin T.D., has today announced a series of small grants for local and regional museums around the country. Total funding of €310,225 is being made available under the Regional Museum Exhibitions Scheme 2021.
