Marine Classroom

Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s Aquaculture Remote Classroom (ARC) will offer visitors fun and immersive technologies with which to virtually plunge underwater to explore some of Ireland’s mussel, oyster and salmon farms. The ARC is literally a ‘ truck-sized classroom’.

It will be in Cork during the two days of ‘European Maritime Days to Play’.

The ARC is purpose built and designed to build understanding about aquaculture and how seafood is sustainably farmed in Ireland. It is jointly funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union (EU).

Aquaculture is the farming of plants and animals in the water. Although almost all of us have seen and understand farming on the land, not many people are aware that we also farm plants and animals in the water.
