Background 

‘European Maritime Days to Play’ is a free public event scheduled for Friday May 23 and Saturday May 24 2025, to celebrate Cork City Council and the Government of Ireland hosting the prestigious conference, European Maritime Day (EMD) from May 21 to 23.
EMD is an annual event where maritime professionals, government personnel, European commission representatives and innovators in the field of the sustainable blue economy gather to network, discuss and develop joint actions impacting the blue economy, the marine environment and other maritime affairs. EMD 2025 is hosted by Cork City Council and the Government of Ireland. 

'European Maritime Days to Play’ is funded by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, Cork City Council, Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), Eirgrid, the Marine Environment Section of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and the maritime regulator, MARA.
