Residential Zoning Consultation

Cork City Council is seeking suggestions from landowners, homebuilders and interested parties for lands suitable for residential zoning in order to accelerate housing delivery.

The First Revision of the National Planning Framework earlier this year highlights the need for accelerated housing delivery across the country, and the recent publication of the Housing Growth Requirements Guidelines seeks local authorities to review their development plans with a view to zoning additional residential lands where they can be justified.

Interested parties can make their submissions on the Cork City Council website portal until 10^th November 2025. This is a non-statutory consultation, but the information received will be assessed by Cork City Council and any lands that are considered suitable may come forward as part of a formal variation of the Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028.
