Discover Cork Public Museum

28/11/2025

Nestled in the heart of Fitzgerald Park, Cork Public Museum offers visitors a fascinating journey through the city’s rich history and heritage.

We are delighted to welcome schools for engaging and educational tours that bring history to life for students of all ages. Our tours are tailored to suit different class levels and curriculum needs, offering pupils the chance to explore Cork’s archaeology, social history, and cultural heritage.

This year has been an especially memorable one, as the museum proudly celebrated its 80th anniversary. Alongside this milestone, we launched major exhibitions: the Rory Gallagher Exhibition, a new Lace Exhibition,  The Founding of Cork Public Museum exhibition, a Seamus Murphy Exhibition, and the Lobby Bar Exhibition. Building on this momentum, we are thrilled to announce our upcoming exhibit dedicated to renowned Cork sculptor Joseph Higgins, opening on December 9th.

We are also delighted to share that recent works on the museum building have been carried out thanks to the support of the Heritage Council, ensuring that our historic home is preserved.
