Cork City Council Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Grant Scheme 2026 Launched

07/04/2026

Cork City Council has launched its annual Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Grant Scheme and is calling on schools, community and voluntary groups to apply for funding of up to €1,500 per project.

This scheme aims to support Cork City groups to implement circular economy, waste prevention, reuse and repair activities in their local community and to encourage partnerships between local schools, social enterprises, charities, community and voluntary groups.

Cork City Council’s Environmental Awareness Officer, Una Leader said: “The Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Grant Scheme supports communities to find innovative ways to reuse, repair and rethink how we use items to minimise waste. In a Circular Economy we keep items in use for longer and avoid creating waste in the first place.”

This grant offers a circular economy/waste prevention grant up to a maximum of €1,500 to voluntary or community groups or schools for circular economy, waste prevention, reuse, repair, upcycling projects in their local community.  The focus for projects should be to promote a circular economy e.g. swopping, reusing, repurposing, upcycling, sharing, repairing, developing repair skills, eliminating single use plastic, textile and food waste prevention.

This grant is funded by the Emergency Management & Climate Action Directorate of Cork City Council as part of its Circular Economy/Waste Prevention Programme and its commitments under the National Waste Management Plan for a Circular Economy.

Closing date for applications – Monday 27th April 2026
