Irish Lighthouses
The Commissioners of Irish Lights will host a display of their equipment and artefacts at ‘European Maritime Days to Play’ Their display will include:
- Static lighthouse equipment
- History of Irish Lights from 1786
- Small wreck marking buoy
- Static models of vessels
- Maps
- Helicopter operations equipment
ILV Granuaile
The Commissioners of Irish Lights (CIL) are also bringing the ILV (Irish Lights Vessel) Granuaile to ‘European Maritime Days to Play’.
It will be open to the public from 1pm on Friday May 23 and on Saturday May 24.
The ILV Granuaile is a versatile Class 1 DP vessel that serves CIL’s ‘aids to navigation management and maintenance’ programme.
Delivered in January 2000, it was one of the most advanced vessels of its type in the world at the time. It’s equipped to a high standard and has skilled crews experienced in working in all sea conditions.
It provides a platform for a range of marine activities and has a modern and spacious bridge. ILV Granuaile can support:
- Buoy deployment & recovery both inshore & offshore
- Hydrographic survey-DP capability, making it an ideal platform for conducting a wide range of survey work
- Sea-bed sampling and mapping
- Deployment of subsea sensors and measuring devices
- Remote-operated vehicle (ROV) support
- Seabed excavation
- Deployment and recovery of marine hardware
- Helicopter operations support
