Local Community Safety Partnerships replaced Joint Policing Committees (JPCs) in 2025 to provide a dedicated forum to support consultation, cooperation and synergy on policing and crime issues between An Garda Síochána, local authority officials, and elected representatives and the community and voluntary sectors.

Cork City has pursued LGBTI+ inclusion for many years, drawing in the strong vibrant LGBTI+ community in Cork.

An Age Friendly city is a place where more and more older people can stay living in their own homes and communities, lead healthy and active lives, get to where they want to go, when they want to go, and are valued contributors to the lives of their communities.

Revitalising Areas through Planning, Investment and Development (RAPID) works with communities across Cork City focusing on areas designated as disadvantaged. The focus is on communities, the voluntary sector and agencies working together in partnership for the betterment of the community.

Community Wardens have been employed in RAPID areas in Cork City since August 2008. Their role is to work with local communities to improve the physical environment through education, enforcement and local action.
