Afternoon Céilí Mór
City Hall, 3pm Sunday 16th March
Join us for An Ceílí Mór to celebrate St. Patrick’s Festival in Cork.
The event is co-ordinated by dance teacher William (Hammy) Hammond. It will have live traditional Irish music from the experienced players to be announced soon.
At the Afternoon Ceílí Mór we will be dancing the Sliabh Luachra, Ballyvourney Jig, Merchant and Connemara sets, the Siege of Ennis, the Walls of Limerick, Peeler and the Goat, the Highland Fling and Haymakers Jig.
'Caller' for the afternoon will be dance teacher William (Hammy) Hammond. Hammy teaches set dancing at Club Ceoil Ballyphehane, he is a great admirer of the dances of Sliabh Luachra and set dances collected by Timmy ‘The Brit’ McCarthy.
Everyone invited to take part, no experience necessary. Dancers will be guided through the parts of each dance with the help of experienced dancers on the floor.
So get on down to the Céilí Mór at Cork City Hall and bring your dancing shoes.
