Delegates learn and benefit from National Women's Enterprise Day 2023

Attended by more than 200 women, this year’s National Women’s Enterprise Day (NWED) for the Cork/Kerry region was indeed a celebration of female entrepreneurship which saw women from various business backgrounds share a day of ‘Empowering Business Together’ with a blend of inspiration, motivation, education and motivation.

Held in Dunmore House Hotel, Clonakilty and organised by LEOs Cork City, South Cork, Cork North & West and Kerry, it was a day of networking opportunities and learning from leading industry experts for delegates.

The event booked out quickly, proving it to be the must-attend event that it is for women in business at all stages development here in the Cork/Kerry region.“  said Dr. Niall O’Keeffe, Head of Enterprise, LEO Cork City.  “The NWED event is a highlight of year-round activities to support female entrepreneurship. Associated with positivity, practical knowledge sharing and synergistic networking, attendees at the event are re-energised and refocused to start, grow and develop their businesses.

Reinforcing the importance of the role of the Local Enterprise Office was a panel of clients from the four host LEOs who outlined their respective entrepreneurial journeys and referenced how the supports provided by their LEO contributed to their business development. The panel comprised of Kathy O’Dwyer (Career Training Internships), Anna & Orla Snook O’Carroll (Valentia Island Vermouth), Dr. Wendy Oke (Teachkloud) and Caroline Murphy (West Cork Eggs) who was also Regional Ambassador for the South West Event.

Successful entrepreneur Patricia Kane, Sustainability Strategist, Founder of Reuzi.ie and Sustainability Chief Officer at Pragmatica was a Guest Speaker and spoke about The Power of One in making change, taking responsibility for sustainable practices in business.

Keynote Speaker, Laura Dowling, aka The Fabulous Pharmacist and Founder of fabÜ Wellness, shared the story of her leap into entrepreneurship and the importance of prioritizing health and wellbeing for women in their busy daily lives.
