‘Dangerous Structures’ is a statutory section within the Building Control Department of Cork City Council, under the direction of the Chief Fire Officer and the Senior Executive Building Surveyor. It is concerned with buildings, structures or sites deemed a danger to the public. It operates under the remit of the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, 1964 as amended. The Building Control Department is committed to treating any report of a Dangerous Structure as a priority issue, and will promptly investigate any report.
Comprehensive powers of enforcement can be exercised by this section under the Local Government Acts. Appropriate action is then taken to eliminate the danger.
If you are concerned that a structure is, or is likely to become, dangerous then contact the Dangerous Structures Section.
