Cork City Council is delighted to announce a new list of events for the latest First Friday’s.

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Damian Boylan, welcomed European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, and Taoiseach Micheál Martin, to Cork City today for Ms von der Leyen’s first political greeting here since Ireland assumed the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Damian Boylan raised the Irish and EU flags above City Hall today to proudly mark the moment Ireland’s assumes the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and to celebrate our shared values and strong European partnerships.

The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Damian Boylan, marked the successful completion of a series of enhancement projects in Blarney and Tower, funded under the 2023 Town and Village Renewal Scheme (TVRS), during a series of visits to both communities on Thursday, 25 June 2026.

Cork City Council and Ballincollig Tidy Towns joined forces to help the town represent Ireland in the prestigious international Communities in Bloom (CiB) competition.
