Small-Scale and Micro-Scale Electricity Generation Pilot Field Trials

The Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, Eamon Ryan has announced on the  26th February 2009, a range of measures to encourage small-scale and micro-scale generation of electricity. These are:

  • The launch of the Small-Scale and Micro-Scale Electricity Generation Pilot Field Trials – a support scheme for a limited number (50) of monitored renewable electricity microgeneration installations.
  • A feed-in tariff of 19 cents per kWh for micro scale wind, solar, hydro and combined heat and power (CHP) installations.
  • The publication of a consumer guide summarising the connection process for i) microgenerators and ii) renewable and CHP electricity generators.  (These are available on SEI’s website).

The pilot will be administered and managed by Sustainable Energy Ireland (SEI) as part of the overall Small-Scale and Micro-Scale Generation Programme.

Applications are currently being accepted from potential host sites.  An application guide, application form and further details on the pilot are contained on SEI website.

If you are interested in participating in the pilot, either as a host site or as a supplier, please consult the website and application guide and forms.
