Contract Signed for Economic Proposition Report Cork City Council has signed a contract with Colliers International to prepare an economic proposition report for Cork Docklands.

City Manager, Tim Lucey, said: “this report, which is part-funded by Government, will provide a revised and updated road map for the redevelopment of the Docklands in the current changed economic circumstances. The Colliers –led team have already demonstrated an innovative approach based on world-wide experience”. The consultant team also includes DKM Economic consultants; Brady Shipman Martin, Planning consultants and Mott McDonald, Engineering consultants.

He added that Cork City Council has assembled a high calibre advisory group to ensure the report was ambitious but realistic. The advisory group is chaired by Pat McGrath, Deputy Chairman – International Development, Project Management Group and includes senior personnel from business and Government.

The project will deliver a report on the long-term positioning of Cork Docklands as a “Location for Global Economic Investment”. Key outputs will be:

1.     A thorough economic assessment which will include the identification of the key employment sectors and functions from existing and emerging markets (indigenous and foreign).

2.     Development of a branding and marketing strategy for the promotion of Docklands nationally and internationally as an investment location.

3.     Consideration of key funding and financial issues associated with the rollout of the Docklands regeneration Project

4.     A phased implementation strategy for an initial 5-10 year period and also for the long-term development of Docklands.

This study will be completed in June 2012.
