'Cork’ to return to the Clipper Race

Following Cork ’s recent collision, everyone was relieved to hear that the crew were safe and unharmed. A decision was taken by insurance and salvage experts that the yacht will not be able to continue the Race and will remain on the reef.

Events have been activated in Hull, La Rochelle and Capetown and the planned reception in the Irish Embassy in Singapore will go ahead on Friday 29th January, however the corporate sailing day and lunch with Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Business Association has been cancelled.

Clipper Ventures are currently sourcing a replacement yacht however it may be May when the new yacht in back in the Race. As a result activations in Qingdao and San Francisco are being reviewed. Discussions are ongoing with Clipper regarding a strategy for the remaining legs of the Race.

As planned the Clipper Race will arrive in Kinsale between 01-03 July and will depart from the Port of Cork
