Over 30 Cork city primary and post primary schools, parents and teachers were represented at the final event of the 2022/23 Discover Cork: Schools’ Heritage Project at Old Cork Waterworks Experience recently. Over the course of a very relaxed afternoon participants collected their prizes and got to discuss elements of their work with Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr. Damien Boylan. The Discover Cork: Schools’ Heritage Project is aimed at both primary and post primary level. Project books may be submitted on any aspect of Cork’s rich past. Suggested topics and ideas are listed in the project brochure. The theme for this year’s project was “The Value of the Past”. The Discover Cork: Schools’ Heritage Project is now in its 21st year and is open to schools in Cork City. Funded by Cork City Council, the Project is an initiative of the Cork City Heritage Plan and is co-ordinated by Cllr. Kieran McCarty.
