Experience the wonder of Christmas as the much loved festival GLOW, A Cork Christmas Celebration which is organised by Cork City Council opens this Friday November 25th.
To celebrate GLOW, Bishop Lucey Park has once again been transformed into a festive wonderland.
GLOW will take place in Bishop Lucey Park and sees the return of the 12 Days of Christmas. This magical story will be celebrated over four weekends in the run up to Christmas and will see the return of drummers, dancers, hoola-hoopers, golden egg laying geese, splendid swans and … at least one new bird, which definitely won’t fit in that pear tree!
Each of the 12 days of Christmas will be represented by a light installation which will be brought to life by community groups, professional artists, actors and street entertainers, including performers from Joan Denise Moriarty School of Dance and from The Tribe Dance Academy.
As part of GLOW, enjoy fantastic views of Cork City on the 30m Ferris Wheel – which will stay in place until early January, as will the classic Carousel.
And even more joy will ring out on Emmet Place, as a Christmas Market will take place the weekends of 10/11 and 17/18 December, featuring some of Ireland’s talented craftspeople, makers and producers alongside delicious treats at the street food stalls. A host of singers and choirs will also perform at the Festive market.

Bishop Lucey Park will be open on these dates from 4.00pm to 8.00pm. The Ferris Wheel will be open daily from 12noon to 9pm from the 25th November to the 8th January (but with some early closing dates – check the website).
