Covid 19 - English Market Update
Cork’s English Market has been the beating heart of Cork City for over 230 years.
In the face of famine, flood, war and multiple recessions, generations of traders have continued to serve the best of local and international produce to the people of Cork. Now isn’t any different. We want to remain open to serve you, the customer. The English Market is, above all else, a food market for essential fresh produce.
We have taken extra precautions to control numbers in the market and to enhance cleaning and signage, such as increased security, enhanced cleaning arrangements, increased signage and availability of hand sanitizers. As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we will continue to ensure public health guidelines are followed. We would ask our customers to also take extra precautions - to practice good hygiene and to keep distances whilst in the market. Naturally, we continue to monitor public health guidelines.
We would like to thank all our traders, suppliers and customers for working with us. As the Taoiseach said yesterday: ‘ In years to come, let them say of us, when things were at their worst, we were at our best.
