Unfinished Book of Poetry at Poetry in the Park
12pm - 1pm
Age Range: 13-18 years old
Location: Ballincollig Regional Park, Fitzgerald Park and Tramore Valley Park
Time: 12pm - 1pm
Cork City Libraries’ Poetry in the Park series will present six new poems written for the 18th edition of The Unfinished Book of Poetry (2022).
The Unfinished Book of Poetry is an anthology that features new poetry from transition year writers representing five Cork schools. Each year, student writers participate in a series of nine workshops led by established poets in their school. This year’s schools include Bishopstown Community School, Gaelcholáiste Mhuire, A.G., Mayfield Community School, St Aloysius School and Coláiste Chríost Rí.
Six young poets whose poems are featured in the book will have their work displayed on a set of panels installed in parks around Cork City at Fitzgerald’s Park, Tramore Valley Park and Ballincollig Regional Park as part of an initiative by Cork City Library Service called 'Poetry in the Park'. Two young poets will read their poems aloud at each of the three sites of the installations at 12pm on 11th June for Cruinniú na nÓg 2022.
Since 2005 almost 700 young writers have been published in the Unfinished Book of Poetry. The literary schools programme is managed by Ó Bhéal and supported by Cork City Council.
No booking required.
