First Cut Youth Film Festival presents a programme of some of the finest short films from its 2024 programme. Although this array of eye-opening work by emerging filmmakers encompasses many genres and styles, it all reflects the dazzling skill and imagination of the next generation of Irish cinema. First Cut is an annual event based in Youghal, County Cork which is dedicated to showcasing new films by young filmmakers. The 2024 festival, which took place in March, was First Cut’s fifteenth edition. It offered a rich programme of screenings, workshops and talks in Youghal’s beautiful Regal Cinema and online programmes to reach a global audience.

First Cut is committed to fostering the creative development of young filmmakers from every background. The festival creates a space where young filmmakers can enjoy a broad range of programming and share their passion for making films with their peers.
