City Development Plan

The Cork City Development Plan 2015-2021 was made by Council Members on 23rd March 2015 and came into effect 20th April 2015. The Plan is Cork City Council’s main strategic planning policy document and it will guide the future development of the city for the period up to 2021.

Cork City Council has started the preparation of a new Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028. This is a 2-year process, which evolves through various stages in line with Planning and Development Legislation.  Please refer to our Process Overview document for details on the plan process.

Having considered the Draft City Development Plan and the Chief Executive’s Report on submissions received, it was resolved by the Elected Members of Cork City Council at a Council Meeting on the 15th March 2022, to amend the Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028.

At the meeting, the Council resolved that a number of these amendments constitute a Material Alteration to the Draft Development Plan, and the proposed amendments would be placed on public display for a period of not less than 4 weeks in accordance with Section 12(7)(b) of the Planning and Development Act, 2000 (as amended).

The Draft Cork City Development Plan 2022-2028 is available to view at
