Temporary Road Closure on North Main Street
A temporary road closure will be in place at North Main Street from 6:30pm today 7 August until Saturday morning 8 August in order to make the No. 63 and No. 64 sites safe for works to continue.
Cork City Council commenced the works to internalise of the support structures that are in place on no. 63 North Main Street on the 23rd of July 2020. Having completed a site survey and some initial works, additional structural issues were identified. These works will require the installation of additional temporary external support structures on the footpath outside No. 64 in order to make the site safe work works to continue. In order to facilitate the installation of these additional external support structures and associate hoarding it will be necessary to put in place an overnight road closure of the road outside no. 64 North Main Street, commencing at 6:30pm on Friday the 7th of August. This road closure will be removed on Saturday morning and the street will reopen fully to vehicular traffic.
Director of Operations, David Joyce said: “Cork City Council is fully committed to delivering the required works to stabilise these buildings using internal support structures as quickly as possible. Our immediate goal is to remove all external support structures and hoarding and reopen the footpath in the shortest time possible.”
Further updates will be issued as works progress.
