Cork City Council welcomes IBAL Litter Survey 2020

13th October 2020.

Cork City Council is pleased that Cork City Centre has performed well again in the IBAL Litter Survey.  This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the street sweeping crews who work 7 days a week from early morning to late in the evening.

The improvement in the ranking of Mahon follows a refocusing of resources and engagement with the community to tackle littering, dog fouling  and illegal dumping in the area.

The continued low ranking of the Northside is however disappointing and does not reflect the work carried out by both the City Council and community groups  in the area. It is worth noting that of the 25 areas surveyed there were 2 A grades, 2 B+ grades, 14 grade B’s, 2 C+ Grades and 5 Grade C Grades.

Cork City Council will be reviewing the  report findings with a view to assessing what changes, further actions or new initiatives need to be carried out to ensure progress for the whole city in future surveys.
