Book of Condolence for Lyra McKee

Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr. Mick Finn will open a Book of Condolence for journalist Lyra McKee today, 23rd April  at 3 p.m. in The Atrium, City Hall, Cork.

Speaking in advance of the opening of the Book, he said:“Lyra McKee was doing her job and was killed in a gun battle on the streets of Derry by people who represent nobody. It was an awful waste of a young life. I join with everybody else in condemning such mindless violence and offer my sympathies to Lyra’s partner, family and friend. We really don’t want to go back to this in the North: it’s up the political leaders to actually lead.”

Members of the public are invited to come to City Hall to sign the Book of Condolence during regular office hours.

The Book of Condolence will remain open until 7th May 2019.
