Travelling - Re-imagining Irish Historical works
A live multimedia performance that embarks the online public in a visual and musical journey with cello and accordion music under the umbrella of the visual element, which creates an unforgettable aural experience. This year Ireland & Romania are celebrating 30 years of diplomatic relationships and this concert is a celebration of Irish music performed by Irish and Romanian artists.
5 historical Irish composers (Ina Boyle 1889–1967, Swan Hennessey 1866–1929, Joan Trimble 1915–2000, Brian Boydell 1917–2000 & Herie O’Kelly 1859–1938)
2 multi-award winning Irish/Romanian musicians (cellist Adrian Mantu and accordionist Dermot Dunne) based in two regions of Ireland (Leinster & Connacht)
Through the use of videography and presenting to Irish and worldwide online audiences historical Irish works rearranged for cello and accordion, these musical works resemble a post-romantic mood and they all carry a deep emotional feeling throughout, related to the idea of freedom and equality. The aims are to give to these historic Irish works a contemporary touch through the use of videography, and to create a wider platform for the Irish and Romanian musicians, and for the historical Irish works, through the use of social media.
