The Cork City Council website is speech-enabled, which means that you can download free software onto your personal computer and have various pages from the site read aloud to you including PDF and MS Word documents.  Browsealoud is free to the end user. Browsealoud makes using the Internet easier for people who have:

  • Low literacy and reading skills
  • English as a second language
  • Dyslexia
  • Mild visual impairments

Browsealoud is a Windows browser plug-in designed for use with Internet Explorer 4 upwards or Netscape Navigator. If you install the Browsealoud plugin onto your PC, you can have the web pages on the Cork City Council website read back to you. To avail of this service, the Browsealoud plugin is available for download to your browser from http://www.browsealoud.com/.


How to adjust font size 

To adjust the font size simply click on the adjust font size buttons, Text size: A,    located at the top right hand side of Council's website as shown in the image below:

Or you can adjust the font size settings in your browser - click view from the top menu bar of your explorer and select text size and select the font option most suitable for you as shown below.

Low Vision

If you select the Low Vision option the webpage displays white text on a black background.  Links are highlighted in blue font.   Click on "Return to Graphics Version" to display the original style.
