Blackpool Flowerbox Scheme 2010

As part of the Draft Blackpool Village Area Action Plan 2010 Cork City Council and RAPID encouraged residents and commercial owners to create floral displays within Blackpool Village.

It is recognised that landscaping, plants and flowers can provide a visual lift and positive contribution to our neighbourhoods and communities.  The area for consideration included Watercourse Road, Thomas Davis Street, Commons Road, Dublin Street, Great William O’Brien Street, Gerald Griffin Street, and Cathedral Walk.

There was a huge response by local residents and commercial owners.  Over 100 ready planted flowerboxes were provided free of charge by the City Council to participants.  These were planted by local Community Wardens and members of the City Council and the RAPID programme during an open day at The Cork Foyer on June 12th 2010.
