NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO MAKE CORK CITY ROAD TRAFFIC (SPECIAL SPEED LIMIT) BYE-LAWS 2017

Take notice that Cork City Council proposes to make the above-entitled Bye-Laws in respect of public roads within the City of Cork in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act 2004. The purpose of the proposed Bye-Laws is to consolidate existing byelaws within City administrative area and to update speed limits as outlined below.

Following a review of National Roads by Transport Infrastructure Ireland these Byelaws seek to introduce revised 60, 80 and 100kph special speed limits on National Roads within the City Boundary. 

These byelaws also seek to introduce a 60 kph special speed limit on sections of the R635 (North Ring Road) and special speed limits of 30kph in residential areas in the vicinity of; Ashdale Park, Ashleigh, Berlingford Drive, Cherry Lawn, Clontarf Estate, Deanrock, Douglas Hall Lawn, Gate Lodge, Larchfield, Lima Lawn, Loreto Park, McCurtain Villas, Middle Parish, Mourne Avenue, Rosepark, Shanakiel, Silverdale, Silversprings, Woodbrook.

A copy of the draft Cork City Road Traffic (Special Speed Limit) Bye- Laws 2017 will be available for public inspection during the period of Friday the 12th of May to Monday the 12th of June 2017 between the hours of 9am and 5pm at the Reception Desk, City Hall, Anglesea Street, Cork and during opening hours at all Cork City Council Libraries.

Submissions on the draft Bye-Laws may be made in writing to the Transportation Division, Room 114, City Hall, Cork, before 5pm on Monday the 12th of June 2017.
