The Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government publishes a range of guidance notes for local planning authorities to ensure a consistent approach to planning across Ireland. These provide guidance on policy and practice issues and are to be taken into account by planning authorities in preparing the development plan and in determining planning applications. They are therefore to those making a planning application or engaging with the planning system (e.g. making submissions on local area plans or planning applications).
