Cork Corporation recognised the potential for the regeneration of the city's docklands in the late 1990s and produced the City Docks Integrated Area Plan, 1998 as part of a submission for funding under the Governments' urban renewal scheme. The Cork Docklands Development Strategy was subsequently commissioned and published in 2001 and forms the basis for the City Council’s vision for the Docklands. Detailed local area plans were later produced in order to outline the detailed redevelopment of the north and south docks areas. The North Docks Local Area Plan was adopted in December 2005 while the South Docks Local Area Plan was adopted by Cork City Council on February 11th 2008 and amended on October 05th 2009. The South Docks Local Area Plan, 2008 (as amended) is available to purchase in hard copy format from the Main Reception, City Hall (Price €80), to view in any City Council public library or at Main Reception, City Hall, or to download from this site. The North Docks Local Area Plan is available to view at the Planning Directorate's reception, City Hall Cork or in any City Council public library or to download from this site.
