Cork Gold a

More than three thousand years ago artists and craftsmen in Cork were creating stunning personal ornaments from gold. They made sun-discs, torcs, lunulae, bracelets, earrings and collars. Very few of these magnificent treasures have survived and those that have are scattered throughout the world. This was the first time that these pieces were shown together in the one location. Artefacts were on loan from several museums: The National Museum of Ireland, The British Museum, The Ashmolean Museum Oxford and University of Sydney Nicholson Museum. The exhibition was officially opened by Deputy Lord Mayor Dara Murphy.
