Life Long Learning Festival at Cork Public Museum 2007

To celebrate the Life Long Learning Festival a series of events will take place at Cork Public Museum.

Every day at 3.00 p.m. members of the Irish Patchwork Society will host a series of tours and demonstrations at the museum. The tours will be of the exhibition ‘The First Quarter’ a stunningly colourful exhibition of patchwork quilts that celebrates the first twenty-five years of the Irish Patchwork Society.

The Cork Traveller Women’s Network will be involved in several events celebrating Traveller culture. Tours of the barrel-top wagon will take place on Wednesday 28th of March from 1.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m. On Wednesday 28th at 12 noon The Traveller Culture & Craft Group of Our Lady’s Traveller Training Centre, Mallow will formally present  the Cork Travellers Network with a beautiful hand stitched quilt which will be on display in the museum.

On Thursday 29th March the Copper craft group of St. Josephs Traveller Training Centre, Ennis make a special visit to Cork to do a live demonstration of the traditional Traveller craft of copper smithing from 12.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.m.

On Friday 30th March at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Richard Wood will give tours of the ‘Conserving the Dream’ exhibition that celebrates William Burges the architect who designed St. Fin Barres Cathedral.
