Comhairle na nÓg is the City’s Youth Council. It provides a forum for young peoples’ issues to be addressed. Comhairle na nÓg is supported by the Office of the Minister for Children.
The Cork City Comhairle na nÓg was established in 2000 through the convening of annual general meetings each November. Since 2008 a permanent group of young people between the ages of 12 and 18 years of age has been meeting regularly. The agenda is set by the young people themselves and has addressed a number of issues including bullying in schools and mental health. The group have made the following two submissions:
