The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind are the official designated charity for the opening weekend of the festival and various guide dogs were on site to help with the switching on of the Christmas Lights.
Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind is a national Irish charity based in Cork. It offers people who are blind or vision impaired and families of children with autism services to achieve a level of mobility and independence. Services offered include an assistance dog programme, orientation and mobility training (long cane training), a child mobility programme and independent living skills.
