The Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Dara Murphy, accompained by the Lady Mayoress Tanya Murphy hosted a delegation from the ICA ( Irish Countrywomen's Association) on May 17th to mark the organisation's centenary this year.

Relocation of Cornmarket Street Saturday Market

Cork City Council wish to advise that the Saturday Market currently trading on Cornmarket Street will be temporarily moving to Emmet Place from Saturday 23rd January 2010 until Saturday 28th August 2010 to facilitate the Cornmarket Street Streetscape Renewal Project.


Clipper

All Systems Go for the Arrival of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

On Wednesday 07 July the fleet made its way in a parade of sail from Kinsale to Cork city. To celebrate the Cork Clipper’s homecoming in style, Albert Quay beside the Custom House was transformed into a Race Village for three days from 10 am to 10 pm daily with food, drinks and crafts stalls and a large stage for musical acts such as Cork favourites John Spillane and Fred. Each day there was street entertainment and a vintage carousel and amusements for all the family.

Twinning Grants 2010

Cork City Council will provide grants to Cork city based groups who are willing to pursue activities to promote the twinning links between any of the twinned cities subject to certain conditions.
